Dr Steven Brindle, Senior Properties Historian for English Heritage - Charles Darwin and family at Down House, Kent
Created by Shrewsbury School and Oak Meadow Primary School (part of the Marches Academy Trust) this series of videos has been created aimed particularly at Yr5-9 students with the aim to develop an interest in the life and work of Charles Darwin.
Dr Brindle gives a guided tour of Down House in Kent, exploring family life as well as how Charles Darwin developed his thinking whilst living there.
These videos are part of a broader project on Darwin/evolution available to schools in the Easter term 2022. Schools that sign up have the opportunity to attend a live Q&A session with experts from the UK and further afield.
Further topics include the 'Voyage of the Beagle', 'Darwin's finches' and 'Evolution of Viruses'. Free accompanying teacher resources (for Yrs 5-9) are available on request from Shrewsbury School - please email Stuart Cowper, Head of Partnership and Community Engagement at the school, at shc@shrewsbury.org.uk or telephone 01743 280514.
