Opening a Window on the Darwins’ Legacy – an exhibition on the history of The Mount & Gardens.
This beautiful FREE exhibition, as featured on BBC Midlands Today, tells the story of The Mount and its gardens (Charles Darwin’s boyhood home), through a series of never-before-seen photographs dating from the late Victorian era.
The recently discovered images were uncovered in a remarkable collection of old photograph albums only recently found at the Shropshire Archives. They depict rare scenes of life at The Mount in the 1890s and reveal many now lost views of the grounds and gardens as they were known to the Darwin family.
This not to be missed exhibition, displayed in Shrewsbury’s beautiful church of St Mary the Virgin, is also complemented with a film presentation.
