Shrewsbury Streetscape Project: The First Five Years is a special exhibition by James St. Clair Wade
In April 2019, local artist and architect, James St. Clair Wade began work on an ambitious survey of the historic streetscape of Shrewsbury in a series of unique architectural views allowing the whole length of each street to be seen simultaneously. Now, nearly five years on, this exhibition presents a selection of the extensive volume of work produced, and highlights the richness and variety of the town’s architecture, building by building, like a library stocked with shelf after shelf of well-loved books.
The exhibition will coincide with the DarwIN Festival Shrewsbury and features a number of buildings associated with his life.
The exhibition will also include a short film entitled ‘The Mount in Miniature’ by Andrew Spicer of Fairholme Films, which documents the process of producing a Streetscape drawing, using Darwin’s birthplace as a case study.
