Opening a Window on the Darwins’ Legacy – an exhibition on the history of The Mount & Gardens.
This beautiful exhibition, as featured on BBC Midlands Today, tells the story of The Mount and its gardens (Charles Darwin’s boyhood home), through a series of never-before-seen photographs dating from the late Victorian era.
The newly discovered images were uncovered in a remarkable collection of old photograph albums only recently found at the Shropshire Archives. They depict rare scenes of life at The Mount in the 1890s and reveal many now lost views of the grounds and gardens as they were known to the Darwin family.
Complemented with a film presentation and additional displays of Victorian gardening items from Shrewsbury Museum’s extensive collections, this not to be missed exhibition is being held in the Community Gallery of Shrewsbury Museum.
