Fellow of the Royal Historical Society Nigel Hinton examines Charles Darwin’s school days, hobbies, holidays, interests and obsessions.

Looking at Charles’s university experiences, life after the five year voyage on HMS Beagle and his later visits to the connections he maintained in Shrewsbury, this will be an illuminating talk about Shrewsbury’s most famous scholar.

Shrewsbury Library is housed in a Grade I listed building situated on Castle Gates near Shrewsbury Castle. The site was the home of Shrewsbury School from 1550 until 1882. Charles Darwin was educated here.
