Created by Shrewsbury School and Oak Meadow Primary School (part of the Marches Academy Trust) this series of videos has been created aimed particularly at Yr5-9 students with the aim to develop an interest in the life and work of Charles Darwin.
Shrewsbury School Archivist, Dr Brooke-Smith tells the story of Charles Darwin as a student, both at school and afterwards at university in a talk illustrated with reference to some of the School's Darwin treasures.
These videos are part of a broader project on Darwin/evolution available to schools in the Easter term 2022. Schools that sign up have the opportunity to attend a live Q&A session with experts from the UK and further afield.
Further topics include the 'Voyage of the Beagle', 'Darwin's finches' and 'Evolution of Viruses'. Free accompanying teacher resources (for Yrs 5-9) are available on request from Shrewsbury School - please email Stuart Cowper, Head of Partnership and Community Engagement at the school, at shc@shrewsbury.org.uk or telephone 01743 280514.
